Details: THE HARLEM SCHOOL OF THE ARTS, INC.
The Harlem School of the Arts, Inc. (HSA) is a nonprofit, community-based school of the arts that offers instruction in dance, music, theater and the visual arts to over 3,000 students annually. Our mission is to enrich the lives of children through exposure to and education in the arts. HSA provides onsite services to children ages 4 through 18 from Harlem, Upper Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Westchester, New Jersey and Connecticut, and we serve over 1,200 students in 15 NYC public schools throughout the City through our unique arts-based After-school programs.

HSA seeks an experienced, motivated, energetic individual to develop, implement, manage and expand the full range of Theater Arts program curriculum; primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Managing the Theater Department, including supervising all administration of the theater program, i.e. designing course curriculums, preparing faculty evaluations and student reviews, observation of classes, recruitment of new faculty, participation in the registration process, and parent interaction.
• Directing and coordinating all student theater programs, including the annual holiday presentation, Black History Month productions, year-end performances, and other HSA sponsored programs.
• Providing a complete educational theater experience for HSA students between the ages of 4 and 18.
• Coordinating theater productions with the Music, Dance and Visual Arts Departments.
• Supervising the maintenance of theater inventory (costumes, props and equipment).
• Being an advocate of the HSA Theater Program to all stakeholders, the surrounding community and beyond.
• Designing and implementing programs that achieve increased external donor support and integration with the Dance, Music and Visual Arts departments.
• Enhancing the theater department’s reputation and development locally, nationally and internationally.
• Implement an innovative theater curriculum and instruction to increase enrollment in the theater program.
• Collaborate closely with Development Department to maximize opportunities for obtaining financial support for the theater program.
• Monitoring and managing the program’s annual budget in an efficient and cost-effective manner within a planned approach and timeframe.
• Managing the HSA College Prep Theater Program to prepare college-bound theater students for competitive training at institutions of higher education.
• Providing a safe, welcoming culture and clear focus for the theater program.
• Preparing and implementing a strategic plan that exemplifies a creative, innovative and dynamic approach to educational theater contributing to the overall mission of the school.
• Ensuring that all theater program classes and productions are designed to meet contemporary art education standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree in theater arts education/administr ation preferred.
• Proven experience in managing a theater education program for children; expertise in multiple aspects of the theater administration preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational and administrative skills.
• Knowledge and significant understanding of all genres of theater, including musicals, classics, drama, and adaptations.
• Strong background in theater and technical theater; demonstrable experience with the design and implementation of theater productions.
• Passionate and experienced in the arts; community involvement a plus

Black Panther Movie

Director R.L. Scott, of Shadow Motion Pictures, will be previewing the
film version of the comic book character, T'Challa, the Black Panther,
in the short film "The Black Panther: Blood Ties". The short film
stars Jerome "Ro" Brooks as The Black Panther and features traditional
African and African diasporic martial arts stylists. The film also
stars Stic.man of Dead Prez. "The Black Panther: Blood Ties" will
premiere in Atlanta, Georgia in mid-to-late February.
