Born & raised in New York City, Bleu has been a professional singer/musician since his Junior High School days. Throughout his many years around the world on stage, he has backed-up, toured with & opened for such notaries as Aerosmith, Wilson Pickett, Slade, Betty Wright, J.Geils Band, Joe Tex, Foghat, Graham Central Station, Isaac Hayes, New Birth, Al Green & Brook Benton to name a few. His training includes High School of the Performing Arts, Berklee College of Music, The New School & Greenwich House School of Music. In the early ‘90‘s, Bleu was signed to indie label Select Records, then a year later was signed to Columbia/Def Jam Records, under the management & direction of entertainment mogul Russell Simmons. As a multi-instrumentalist, he also worked as a Columbia studio musician, playing on tracks for such artists as Oran Juice Jones, Alison Williams & Chuck Stanley, earning him favorable reviews for his musicianship by NYC publications the Village Voice & the Daily News. Blending a wide range of strong influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Prince, Sun-Ra, George Benson, James Brown & George Gurdjieff, his stage show always delivers an exciting presentation of musical skill & showmanship. Onstage for over 35 years, for his original project he has also been working exclusively with the world’s most gifted female musicians as his back-up band which for him is a concept both musically and spiritually uplifting. Since 1968, Bleu has been performing the longest-running & ONLY authentic Jimi Hendrix tribute show worldwide which was formed while a member of Hendrix‘s fan club & is still going strong non-stop. He also gives lecture-demonstrations on Hendrix at prestigious colleges & seminars. Other projects Bleu involves himself with is his Al Green show as well as his original project of fronting all-female backup bands.
