He was ranked among the world’s top 100 public intellectuals. A leading pan-Africanist and influential political writer, professor Ali Mazrui, has died in the United States, aged 81. The renowned Kenyan scholar published many books and articles on African politics, the impact of political Islam and North-South relations. He advocated an ideology of African liberalism and was critical of foreign exploitation of Africa’s resources and people.
